Successfully navigating a career in wildlife without a sense of direction!

Kate MacAney handled her first bat in 1980. Since then, her work in wildlife conservation has taken her to almost every county in Ireland, often at hours when most of us are fast asleep.

In this personal and entertaining talk, Kate will share stories of the bats and other mammals she has encountered along the way. She’ll reflect on her work protecting the lesser horseshoe bat and its roosts, and on the challenges and surprises of a career spent travelling the country by day and by night.

As Kate admits, there were times when she envied a bat’s ability to navigate: finding her own way home was sometimes the harder task!
