Brendan Owens
Brendan holds a BSc in Physics and Astronomy and an MSc in Science Communication, from Dublin City University. With a rich professional journey spanning a decade at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, he has dedicated himself to igniting curiosity through various public and school engagement projects, focusing on astronomy and space science.
Brendan has collaborated with community groups, schools, and informal learning organisations, as well as the broader public, delving into the intricacies of the Universe. His passion extends beyond astronomical exploration, encompassing themes such as breaking down stereotypes, promoting empowerment through lived experiences, and examining the vital role of science in society.
A pivotal phase of his career involved contributing to European Commission projects at the Science Gallery, Trinity College Dublin. Currently, Brendan currently works at the Institute of Physics, where he actively supports current and emerging physicists in public engagement, striving to cultivate a more inclusive physics community.
Brendan holds a role as an Astronomer Emeritus with the Royal Observatory Greenwich. He remains a passionate stargazer, beginner astrophotographer and avid supporter of dark skies worldwide.
