Louise Beer will share her experiences as the University College Dublin College of Science x Mayo Dark Sky Park SATELLITE Artist in Residence from 2025–2026.
Her multi-chapter project explores the climate crisis through astronomical and deep-time perspectives, asking how situating our lives within the immense history of Earth and the Universe might shift how we understand and value the living world. She will reflect on her time at UCD and beneath the dark skies of Mayo, and on the conversations and experiences with scientists that have shaped her work.
Louise will be joined by Richard Sabin, Principal Curator of Mammals at the Natural History Museum, for an open discussion about encounters with the night sky, deep time, and what it means to consider the individual lives experienced by different creatures across Earth’s history.
Audience members will be invited to contribute their own perspectives to the project’s ongoing archive.
