Ella McSweeney

Ella McSweeney is an award-winning Irish journalist and broadcaster specialising in food, farming, science and the environment.

A familiar voice and face on Irish radio and television, Ella has reported and presented for RTÉ across a wide range of programmes, including Ear to the Ground, CountryWide and Prime Time. Her journalism explores the relationship between people, landscape and the natural world, tackling subjects ranging from agriculture and biodiversity to climate change, food production and environmental protection.

Ella studied science at Trinity College Dublin and holds a Master’s degree in food policy from City University London. Her work combines a strong grounding in science with a journalist’s curiosity and a gift for making complex environmental issues engaging and accessible to a broad audience.

Throughout her career, she has been recognised for thoughtful, rigorous reporting and a willingness to ask challenging questions about how we use and care for our land, our food systems and the wider natural environment.
