Darragh Ennis

Dr Darragh Ennis is an Irish scientist, author, professional quizzer and television personality, best known as ‘The Menace’ on ITV’s hugely popular quiz show The Chase.

Originally from Rathcoole, Co. Dublin, Darragh studied biology at Maynooth University, where he went on to complete a PhD in ecology. His scientific career has taken him from researching insect pests in Canadian forests to studying brain development, RNA biology and how memories are formed during 13 years of postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford.

Darragh first appeared on The Chase as a contestant in 2017 before joining the programme as its sixth Chaser in 2020. He is also a passionate science communicator and author of The Body: 10 Things You Should Know, which explores the fascinating science of the human body in an entertaining and accessible way.

Combining scientific curiosity with a formidable store of general knowledge, Darragh brings science, discovery and quizzing together with infectious enthusiasm.
